12 month rotation programme

In this 12-month programme, you will explore a range of potential career paths and gain deeper experience, skills and knowledge in your chosen areas through rotations.

Graduate centric

Graduates get to choose their own path, with rotations designed around their career aspirations and interests, and focused career development support throughout.

Grounded in Te Ao Māori

This programme combines the best elements of a professional graduate programme, together with Te Ao Māori, underpinned by Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga and Kaitiakitanga.

Permanent role (from day one)

After the 12 month programme, graduates transition into a role in a field that matches their career aspirations, but graduates are on permanent contracts from day one. No reapplying at the end of the programme!

Discovery Phase

The programme starts with a discovery phase, where graduates explore a range of potential career pathways, meet people from various backgrounds, and start to chart their path through the programme and potential future career. In this phase, our graduates start to explore who they are, their values and aspirations, and explore Te Ao Māori in the world of work. Graduates will also forge strong relationships with their mentors, kaimahi Māori networks and their fellow graduates.

Rotation Phase

After the Discovery Phase, graduates move into 3 x 3-month rotations, to try out potential career paths and gain experience, skills and knowledge in those areas. During the rotations, graduates continue to be supported by their mentors, kaimahi Māori networks and their fellow graduates, and are also matched up with experienced colleagues in their rotation areas. Here, graduates will work on real projects and mahi that will build the foundations of their future career. During this phase, graduates will continue to deepen their connection to and understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori and Tikanga, and how to bring them to the world of work.

Rotation areas can include:

  • Human Resources
  • Project Management
  • Marketing & Communication
  • Student Engagement & Success
  • Information Technology
  • Innovation
  • Data Analysis and Planning
  • Libraries
  • Commercial operations
  • Finance
  • Property Construction & Facilities Management
  • Kaupapa Māori

Transition Phase

After the 12-month programme, graduates take the next step in their career and transition into their destination role and department. This destination role is agreed by the graduate and the department managers, based on the aspirations of the graduates and available opportunities. Graduates continue relationships they have developed with mentors, kaimahi Maōri networks and fellow graduates as they establish their future careers and when the time is right, support future generations of graduates coming through.
