The Department of Accounting & Finance is one of the largest Departments in the University. It has a strong research culture and comprehensive teaching programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful appointee will be part of the Financial Accounting discipline area. Faculty members in the Financial Accounting area are active in publishing in leading international peer-reviewed journals, attracting external grants, supervising doctoral students, and maintaining links with the profession, industry, and government.

The Department is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer (i.e. tenure-track Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer specialising in Financial Accounting. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong research potential, as well as a commitment to excellent research-informed teaching that is enhanced by appropriate learning technologies.

This is a full time, 40 hours per week, permanent employment contract. The salary range for this role is Lecturer Step 1 $97,831 per annum salary to Senior Lecturer Step 8 $155,788 per annum salary depending on experience and qualifications.

The successful appointee will have a PhD (or be near completion), with demonstrated excellence in research and a commitment to high quality research-informed teaching.

You will have a research program that complements and builds upon existing areas of strength within the Department’s Financial Accounting area. These areas include, but are not limited to: AI and accounting

  • Strategic disclosures
  • Regulatory enforcement and compliance costs
  • ESG measurement and disclosure
  • Investor relations
  • Accounting and the political environment
  • Textual analysis of accounting and related disclosures

You will be a highly effective teacher of both undergraduate and graduate students. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in their specialist area, at introductory levels more widely, and to engage in research and publication both personally and through the supervision of research students.

You will also be expected to seek research funding, to engage with the profession, and to contribute to departmental service.
