We have an opportunity for a Learning Technologist to join our Ranga Auaha Ako | Learning & Teaching Design Team. In this role you will work and support staff to improve and extend their use of the digital learning environment. You will be ensuring greater consistency, accessibility and sustainability. You will also be tasked with supporting the end-to-end development of courses within the Universities Learning Management System and other educational technologies.

The role will also be given the responsibility of supporting the capability development of teaching staff to sustain, maintain and deliver courses developed within the LMS.

This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week.

The salary range for this role is $72,000 – $88,900 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Our suitable candidate will meet the following criteria:

You must have a current right to work in New Zealand.  

Essential:

  • At least two years’ tertiary/commercial/industry experience that provides the knowledge and skills required to perform the job effectively and efficiently (e.g., application of learning technologies, Learning Management Systems, Web interface design, end-user support).
  • Experience in designing online learning resources, ideally within a learning management system (e.g., Canvas LMS).
  • Demonstrated user-centred approach to design and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and edit interactive multimedia.
  • Experience with HTML, using WYSIWYG applications, and working with a wide range of educational software.
  • Experience in user support, documentation and training.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically to sequence and program online interactions, with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Knowledge of current digital technology and the technical processes for the delivery of audio visual and interactive media.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a collaborative team environment and independently, develop productive relationships quickly, and sustain a client service orientation within a fast-paced production schedule.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the implementation of equity principles, workplace health and safety principles, accessibility and copyright.

Preferred:

  • A degree in graphic design, multimedia, media arts or relevant IT-related discipline.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Experience in developing learning resources aligned with UDL and WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards.
  • Experience developing learning resources within the Tertiary Education Sector.
